A data center tour in virtual reality
A narrative VR marketing experience for Green Mountain data center in Norway.
Background
Green Mountain data center company wished to have a realistic, remote virtual reality tour of their data centers, especially for the potential customers in the U.S.
The experience was used by Green Mountain in various industry exhibitions & client meetings and received great feedback.

Designing virtual reality, remotely
The client was located in Norway. The design communications were done remotely.
Augmented reality in VR
Designing an unique blend of new technologies - mimicking AR experience with VR devices.
Easy to use for marketing use
Experience had to be extremely easy to use for marketing and exhibitions.
Artefacts
Outside views
The virtual reality tour has augmented reality highlights inside of the VR 3D environment. The scenery was captured in 3D using photogrammetry.
Inside views
Sponsors of the experience have their own highlights in the environment, ranging from basic product information to videos and X-ray views of their products.
Xray elements
At some places, objects of the other rooms can be seen through the walls. A guiding trail on the floor is leading the user to the next locations.
On-screen UI
The presenter has on-screen shortcuts to all of the tour locations.
